Resistance Flexibility Training
To resistance stretch, start in position one and resist by kicking your heel toward your glutes as your leg extends by sliding down toward the ground.

Resistance Strength Training
To strengthen, start in position two and resist by kicking your heel toward your glutes as the sliding action against the ground slows your leg down.

Tip: This move should make more sense after becoming accustomed to the feeling of the bent leg hamstring stretches.
